Nursery school’s driver’s unsafe driving practices are concerning

'I really hope this problem will be addressed before an accident occurs and photos of crying parents and mangled vehicles appear on the front page of EXPRESS'

CONCERNED CITIZEN from Bonaero Park ext 3 writes:

I wish to add to the letter printed in the paper of June 5 concerning the driver of Lion King Nursery School.

Firstly, I want to clarify that I do not know the school or its owner, which according to the parents’ letters, is a very good school.

I do not know the driver either, or his friendliness towards the parents, as stated in the letters from the parents, but I have observed his driving skills.

I have seen unsafe driving practices done by the driver of the school bus on various occasions in and around Bonaero Park but two of them were really serious and stood out the most for me.

The first one occurred at the traffic light turning into Bonaero Park ext 3, coming from Boksburg. There is no yield sign at this particular traffic light. He ignored the red traffic light and as he continued into Bonaero Park ext 3, drove right through the stop street on Carp Road.

I was driving behind the school bus and the traffic light turned green as I reached it and could observe the driver going past the stop street without stopping.

In the second incident, again coming from Boksburg on Atlas Road at the traffic lights by Toyota. This time the light was red again. I was travelling in the left hand lane and the school bus was in the right hand lane next to the vehicle in front of me.

A school girl inside the bus was hanging out through the window of the bus with both her arms sticking out and shouting and swearing at the driver of the car in front of me and telling him/her to move out of the way as they (the school bus driver) wanted to move into the left lane. Once we had crossed the intersection, they moved into the left lane.

I really hope this problem will be addressed before an accident occurs and photos of crying parents and mangled vehicles appear on the front page of EXPRESS.
