Noisy pub asked to turn it down

EXASPERATED and EXHAUSTED of Glen Marais writes:

Can someone please advise on how to take this matter further? There is a pub on Monument Road, Glen Marais ext 1 that plays its music very loudly every single Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, starting at 9pm and carrying on until 1-2am.

The night of June 21 was particularly bad, to the extent we had to lay an official complaint. All that happened was that the music was turned down while the authorities were there but as soon as they left, the music was just cranked up again.

Does the owner not realise that when people complain this means there is a problem? The loud, continual heavy thumping of the music is extremely irritating. I live nearly 1km from the pub and I cannot imagine how unbearable it must be for residents living closer.

Surely this cannot be allowed to continue in a primarily residential area. Were the residents of Glen Marais ext 1 ever given the opportunity to oppose allowing this pub to play such loud music?

This is an appeal to the current owner to please have a bit of respect for the people residing in the area and to stop this continual irritation three nights a week. Alternatively, move your pub closer to your home so you can irritate your neighbours. I’m sure the vast majority of residents living in Glen Marais ext 1 close to the pub cannot have an early night’s sleep thanks to the non-stop booming music.

Surely in our own homes we are entitled to peace and quiet.
