Pavement has become a parking area

The council does nothing to improve the sidewalk or maintain cleanliness of the area

KEN SUDDING writes:

The residents of Norkem Villas, 103 Mooirivier Drive, have an issue with vehicles using the sidewalk as a parking area.

Primarily buses, trucks and taxis have over time destroyed much of the vegetation and turned the sidewalk into a dustbowl.

We have raised the issue with Norkem Park SAPS, the metro police and Ekurhuleni Metro to no avail.

On numerous occasions the area has been used for taxi association meetings, as well as a political rally gathering place. Regular bus parking is further to the annoyance.

The council does nothing to improve the sidewalk or maintain cleanliness of the area.

As a resident in support of the body corporate, I raise this issue again via this medium, for the council to incorporate parking restriction pillars or poles along the entire sidewalk.

This will enable Norkem Villas to regain controlled access to beautify and maintain the sidewalk, as well as limit the dust pollution created by the vehicles.
