Driver of bakkie reacts to accident article

'The owner of the Red Corolla had all our information to contact us regarding any insurance related questions'

F VAN DER WESTHUIZEN writes:

The article in Kempton Express (July 10, “Plea for witnesses to come forward”) refers.

I am the owner of the white Ford Bantam that was involved in this accident. However, my son was driving the vehicle when the accident happened after collecting dog food from a pet shop on Pomona Road.

He was standing at a traffic light on 3rd Avenue to turn right to Spar complex. A truck was waiting on the opposite side to turn right into 6th Road. He could not see any oncoming traffic and assumed it was clean and drove in front of the oncoming Red Corolla.

If the white Bantam was speeding as said in the article it would have been much worse. Luckily no-one was badly hurt.

After I read the article it felt as if we fled the scene and nobody had any information, which is completely wrong.

The driver and owner of the Red Corolla (Rigo) told me he did not have any insurance. My insurance stipulated that it was not their responsibility to tow the vehicle, after which I paid a tow truck to take their vehicle to there house in Birch Acres.

I took the driver/owner Rigo and his trailer to the same address with my vehicle.

The owner of the Red Corolla had all our information to contact us regarding any insurance related questions.
