Ekurhuleni officials excel

A resident/city council partnership and mutual respect can only benefit our whole community

On Saturday morning, August 23 at 1am, we discovered that we had no power, although everybody around us had lights.

We are on prepaid and had loaded up the previous day. I reported the matter to Ekurhuleni call centre at 1.30am and spoke to a very helpful woman.

We needed someone to open our street box to allow an electrician to check our wiring. She did explain that their turnaround time could be up to 24 hours.

At 8am the same morning Joseph Chauke of the electricity department was at my gate. He opened my street box and assisted in resolving the prepaid loading issue.

The loaded amount had in fact not gone through. He came back later to confirm that everything was up and running. Thank you very much for your friendly and speedy assistance.

I also had a problem lower down my street with suspected illegal building. I went to town planning on floor 5 at the civic centre and the front office staff were very helpful.

Town planner Mpho Mabusela checked the plans at the address in question, found none and called on them the same day to issue a notice. The building stopped.

Apologies ensued and plans for a building adhering to town planning requirements are in the process of being drawn up. Mr Mabusela assured me that they would be checking on progress to ensure that the building plan approved would in fact be the building erected at the premises.

Thank you for your speedy and professional assistance.

A resident/city council partnership and mutual respect can only benefit our whole community. Thanks Ekurhuleni!
