Mirabel Avenue gets 108 new trees

With reference to a story regarding the removal of the trees on Mirabel Avenue in Bonaero Park.
I would like to thank Clr André du Plessis and his ward 23 committee for an excellent job done.
People who made use of the nice summer weather the past couple of days and visited the Blaauwpan area, would have noticed that 108 wild olive trees had been planted on the Mirabel Avenue island.
If it was not for our committed ward councillor, I guess all the predictions received from the community, of this area becoming a desert, would have come true. Luckily for us, we can proudly say, that Mirabel Avenue will in a couple of years again be one of the most beautiful streets in Ekurhuleni, surrounded by lush evergreen trees.
I also want to take this opportunity to encourage all residents to become involved in the local ward committee, attend meetings, give input and report problems.
In Afrikaans there is a saying, “Vele hande maak ligte werk”. Nowhere is this saying more true than in our local communities. Without constant input and assistance from the public, no elected official or community forum will be a success.
Again, Clr Du Plessis, thank you, you are an asset to our ward 23.
