Use this gem to pay your bill

Anyone with a smartphone, tablet or any means of internet access can get onto Siyakhokha

LEON BASSON writes:

From time to time, I notice and see stories and complaints about residents not being able to get or pay utility bills because of our wonderful postal services not on the job.

Not that the postal service really matters, because there was hardly any postal services even before the strike.

Nevertheless, trying to get hold of the metro’s account and billing departments is a pointless and needless frustration as well. Telephones are not answered and emails are not responded to either. That brings me to the purpose of this communication.

I’m not sure if this have ever been published before, or if the good citizens of Ekurhuleni are aware that the metro actually has, and had for some time, a website where one can register to view, download and even pay rates and taxes and electricity bills. This website can be accessed under https://www.e-siyakhokha.co.za

The metro is not really good at advertising or marketing this gem of an innovation.

One of the benefits of registering with Siyakhokha, depending on your communication preferences, is that you can receive notifications either by email, stating that the new bills has been loaded, or by sms telling you what your billing amounts are.

Anyone with a smartphone, tablet or any means of internet access can get onto Siyakhokha and get access to their billing. Furthermore, one can also set up the metro as a beneficiary on your bank account, where you can pay them via Internet banking, ATM transactions or even through Siyakhokha, thus avoiding long, frustrated hours in a queue.

I know a lot of people out there do not have access to email or internet, but do have a cell phone and with a little effort and help from family and friends can set up a Siyakhokha profile and receive your billing details by sms.
