Reckless drivers outside schools are a concern
This has happened to other parents too

MEGAN PALMER of Van Riebeeck Park writes:
There is a cute créche in Flamboyant Avenue in Edleen with the most amazing staff and amazing parents to beautiful children.
However, there is something that happens outside this créche that threatens the life of not only the staff but of the parents and children too. That is speeding.

I, myself, have had the displeasure of almost being taken out a number of times, most of which while carrying my one-and-a half-year-old daughter.
I was taught while learning to drive that if you are coming to a school zone or zebra crossing, you should slow down just in case someone is going to cross the street.
I was coming out of the créche on March 9 after fetching my daughter. I walked off the pavement and looked past a car to notice that if I had taken a step or two into the road, we would’ve been flying in the air or been driven over by a red VW Polo speeding in excess of 70km/h.
If that car had hit us, I can only think of the endless bad endings to happen to my daughter and myself.
This has happened to a few other parents and I would like to urge the public to please be more aware of school zones and to drive slower when entering said zones.
