Pothole nearly caused accident

'My question is, who pays for the damage?'

ANGERED Kempton Park Resident writes:

I want to start by saying, I know this has been done to boredom but the potholes in Kempton Park are causing damage to our vehicles.

On April 8 my wife nearly had a big accident on Elgin Road in front of the pharmacy because of those deep potholes. Her tyre burst after driving through one of the potholes.

Because of the heavy rain, it was not easy to see as the holes were filled with water.

Not only did the tyre get damaged but the rim as well. It is as if Ekurhuleni just do not care. That is the same area where the traffic light never works.

If feel we keep on notifying our municipality but nothing happens. The holes in Elgin Road have been there since December 2014.

My question is, who pays for the damage? Will Ekurhuleni pay or is it just too bad and we must fork out money every time we sustain damage as a result of the roads not being up to standard.
