Motorist pulled off for doing the right thing

Taxi driver has to listen to law abiding citizen

ANONYMOUS writes:

This happened on Sunday morning, May 3 on the R25/Modderfontein road towards Kempton Park where the traffic light was flashing red, ie a stop signal. When I stopped a taxi raced past me without even slowing down. He was pulled off just after the intersection by the metro police.

When I came past them, the officer pulled me off as well, me wondering why. He came to me, with the taxi driver, asking me what a flashing red traffic signal was supposed to mean.

When I replied that it was a stop signal, he (the police) said to the taxi driver it was going to cost him R5 000.

He said I could go, as he just wanted the taxi driver to hear from a law abiding citizen how traffic rules worked.
