Pothole dangers continue

Politicians need to stop making excuses and focus on all of the resources available on fixing the roads

DESMOND MCKENZIE of Terenure writes:

Every week we read about residents complaining about the issue of potholes and how this is affecting the residents of Kempton Park.

It seems the council can’t get their decision and priorities right.

Politicians are claiming there is a lack of awarding tenders to contractors and the suspension of officials of the roads departments. Frankly, this is not our problem, as the municipality has a legal obligation to the residents by ensuring that our roads are always in a good condition.

The issue of potholes has been raised within council and by Clr Allan Sauls, who is living in ward 13, and we have not seen any progress regarding this very dangerous issue affecting motorists on a daily basis.

It seems that I am driving into more potholes every day. Some roads are so bad it may be best to resurface the whole road. Many of these potholes are so bad I worry about my alignment or tyres when I drive into them, and in the meantime, everyone in the local area has to resort to beating their vehicles to pieces over these disgraceful roads.

Politicians need to stop making excuses and focus on all of the resources available on fixing the roads.
