How many people work for the metro?
The majority of residents are desperately trying to make ends meet

The municipal budget, published in Kempton Express of June 18, makes for interesting reading.
The figure that stands out above all others is the amount allocated for salaries. At R6.1-billion, it is a horrifying number. It raises the question of just how many people are employed by this bloated bureaucracy?
In the 21 years since this once wonderful country was sacrificed to the mismanagement and incompetence of the ANC, the numbers employed by governmental organisations, at both national and local levels, has exploded as “jobs” have been invented for the party faithful.
The latest incidence of this with our municipality happened just a few weeks ago.
The most popular phrase used by those on the municipal gravy train is “A Partnership that Works”.
This certainly does not apply to the majority of residents, who are desperately trying to make ends meet and survive the never-ending annual increases in rates and taxes while watching the quality of service continually decline from an ever-increasing labour force.
