Panic buttons could have saved Officer Bann

How did we let this happen again?

The death of metro police officer Martiens Bann refers.

How did we let this happen again?

You tell me that this hero, an off-duty officer, was the only one who heard the housebreaking by six people on Saturday early afternoon?

The people around that house heard what happened, but decided to do nothing. I don’t say they must come out risking their lives but the quick press of a panic button by one or two houses next to the one that was invaded by these people, would have scared them off.

If that did happen, this off-duty officer would have been alive today with two months to retire from the force. Rest in peace.

I started sending emails to newspapers and TV stations from July 2. I knew something bad was about to happen to some policemen but they never listened. Hopefully now they catch a wake up and bring the public to help against the criminals.

The police don’t have a crystal ball to tell them where the next crime will happen but with the quick help of the public, police could be there to prevent more unfair killings like this.
