The muck is in the sanctuary and it stinks
This is not a political matter and deserves the council's urgent attention

GERALD ROOS of Bonaero Park writes:
A wonderful greeting to all my fellow Kemptonians. I last spoke to you in January 2014 about the wonderful Bonaero bird sanctuary and addressed the problem overflow of surge into the pan and onto the road that is used by pedestrians and vehicles alike.
I asked about a possible walkway for the drastically increasing number of pedestrians and what is happening about the disgusting toilet spill. There was a civil project that started and, at that time, I thought how smartly that had happened.

To my utter dismay, the work on the installation of the new surge pipeline system came to a quiet halt. The concrete manholes have started to topple over and I don’t think there is one that is standing level any longer.
The ground under the foundations of these structures has washed away and they are not sound in my opinion. The muck is in the sanctuary and it stinks to high heaven. Is this a botched attempt by an inadequate contractor and our money lost to prosperity? Is there another story to wiggle around this responsibility?
I think the time is coming to reject the feeble explanations and excuses and hold the council responsible and accountable for their lack of achievement. If the responsibility lies with province, surely someone from Kempton Park municipality must be able to speak to them.
What can we expect from our “leaders”? This is not a political matter and deserves the council’s urgent attention. Six months has turned into 18 months and so on and so on. What a disappointment this has turned out to be.
