Customer fed up with poor service at Checkers Bonaero Park

‘If this service does not improve I will have to complain to the Lotto service provider’

DUSHEN Chetty writes:

I have been living in Bonaero Park for the past three years and frequent Checkers almost daily. I often play Lotto at this store. The service is absolutely pathetic. If by some miraculous event there is someone there, she is on the phone or waiting for authorisation. Does a Human Resource department actually screen their employees?

I feel that Checkers should actually close this service because on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday this service is never manned. You have to wait for the Money Market attendant to serve all of her customers before she even notices you. It is a common experience for me to be disappointed with this service and I welcome you to try it for yourself.

Just the other day I waited almost 20 minutes to collect R11.50. In queue with me were a number of dissatisfied customers. I often walk away and go to the Pick n Pay at the Aero Centre to use their efficient service. They could not even find change to pay me. Then an employee had to open a box under the counter behind some files. Professional?

The managers at Checkers just stand and watch the empty tellers with no customers and smile. Waste of salary!

Shoprite Checkers communications manager, Jennifer van der Westhuizen, responded:

“We are investigating the matter as we’d like to provide a high level of customer service. We will discuss the situation with the Checkers divisional management to look at possible adjustments in the store’s Money Market to improve service delivery where possible. In the mean time we apologise to the customer for the inconvenience he/she experienced.”
