People should try to comprehend how destructive their actions often are to the country and its economy.

GEORGIE Z writes:
It is my perception that the use by political parties of racism (encouraging hatred among South Africans) as a tool purely for political gain is an admission of failure. After 20 years of power, the current war for power raging within the parties is quite alarming.
The so-called “White, Racist Afrikaner” is a small percentage of the white population and therefore a minuscule percentage of South Africans, but it seems as if they are considered as the most powerful force in the country.
Prejudice among people of different races, colours and creeds will always exist and should not be designated “racism” for political gain.
Thank you Mandla (Radebe) for your letter to the Kempton Express, titled “The tale of three assemblies”. It assisted me to understand what the ANC and labour unions as well as the EFF propose to do to address poverty, unemployment and inequality.
I agree that the Marxist ideology, favoured by them, hampers real freedom and progress. People should try to comprehend how destructive their actions often are to the country and its economy and, therefore, to themselves. It is my humble opinion (I am an 80-year-old female who is trying to keep my brain active) that until every South African of whatever race, colour or creed has equal rights and privileges, particularly to compete in the job market and business world, the situation will not change.
The ANC’s policies have failed to transform South Africa into the utopia envisaged and the past 20 years have been marred by bad leadership, corruption and fraud, resulting in political repression and economic suffocation. The president’s current favourite topic is that South Africa has the best infrastructure in Africa.
What he does not admit is that one of Apartheid’s good legacies was infrastructure (at that time, the best in Africa). Although the economy was suffering because of sanctions, it was stronger than it is at present.
The inherited infrastructure has, however, not been managed and maintained efficiently and the current performance of Telkom and other similar structures is a tragedy. The ANC’s idea of infrastructure has, in some instances, like e-toll, been a waste of taxpayers’ money and its maintenance and administration a burden.
The DA leader, defending the ANC’s onslaught against them, has been forced to request “racists” not to vote for his party. Who are the current racists? The few remaining racist white Afrikaners?
However, who you vote for is private and confidential.
Why don’t we forget the past (hatred begets hatred and history repeats itself)? We need innovative manufacturing projects and the person who develops and manages the project deserves to be compensated. Inequality will always exist but taking from the rich (except when the riches were gained through corruption and fraud) is not the answer.
Meanwhile, the circus is performing, enjoy it but don’t forget to vote.
