Interesting to see a lot more speed cameras on the roads in the past few weeks.
I admit that there must be some sort of speed control on the roads but it seems that these are the only places you see the metro police.
I do want to ask the metro police this: don’t you think it is time to take another look at the speed limits on some of the roads? Set fair and reasonable speed limits but why frustrate drivers to drive 60 or 70km/h on roads that could easily be 70 or 80 km/h?
Why change the speed limit on some highways from 120km/h to 100km/h for 500m and then change it back to 120km/h? That seems a bit sneaky.
But my real question is this: if safety on the roads is really your main concern, why do you not prosecute reckless drivers or drivers using turning lanes to go on straight or drivers that use the forward lanes to turn?
Or what about all the drivers who blatantly ignore a stop street or a red traffic light and just continue driving? Metro police, if safety on the roads is that important to you, then prove it.
