Operator puts phone down in customer’s ear

'Certainly not what I would call customer service!'

ENDLESSLY IRRITATED of Pascoe Avenue writes:

On Tuesday, October 25, we had the dubious pleasure of having our electrical boxes on the pavement replaced.

We were forewarned and therefore prepared for the all-day interruption, from 8am to 6pm. All went smoothly, although the workers had disconnected the old boxes by 10am but then had to wait until 2pm for the new boxes to be delivered and installed.

We assumed that we had had our turn but, lo and behold, a week later we were again without power, this time without any notification whatsoever.

When calling the customer care centre in Spartan, I was told to call back within five minutes while the operator determined the reason for the outage.

Eventually I was told the system on our road was linked to the street where they were currently working and therefore we would again be without power the whole day.

When I voiced my displeasure at the lack of notification, the call was terminated by the care (?) centre.

Certainly not what I would call customer service!
