Residents ‘forced’ to work for metro

If a bin is stolen and I put out a bag in the meantime, they have to collect it.

ELIZABETH L of Birchleigh North writes:

The City of Ekurhuleni decided to roll out wheelie bins. Why are they trying to force us, the residents, to do their work for them?

We do not work for Ekurhuleni. They should drop off the bins at residents’ houses and supply an email address so we can report stolen bins and have it replaced.

No one has the time to collect the bins, which probably will not fit into our vehicles and neither has working folk that has the time to sit for hours at police stations.

They should not inconvenience us or make it our problem.

Another thing, we pay for a service to be rendered, which means if a bin is stolen and I put out a bag in the meantime, they have to collect it.

I read about depots and distribution spots. Where are these places and what hours are they open?

If my bag is not collected, I will donate it to the municipal building at their entrance so they can stare at an uncollected bag all day.
