It is easy to criticise our police service for wrong doings.
However, very rarely do you see compliments or congratulations for the good service, quick response and respect they give to the public.
Credit must be given where credit is due. These officers work long hours at a thankless job where they are mostly short-staffed, with many of them losing their lives in the line of duty.
I would like to thank the following officers from Norkem Park SAPS for their outstanding service at five incidents I was on scene for, spreading from October 25 to November 3.
I will not go into the detail of the cases as they are ongoing investigations and also out of respect for the people involved.
These officers must be complimented on their service and for going the extra mile: Sgt Barbara Ann Ferreira, Const James Bobane Maedimole, Const Phumodzo Stela Mabila, Const Malesela Ludwick Nkoana, Const Cornelia Marakeng and D/Const Molatelo Beauty Mononela.
These fine members in blue attended the scenes quickly, remained unbiased, mediated, opened dockets quickly and efficiently, stood for long periods of time in the sun with no refreshments, offered sympathy and gave dignity, offered their private time while they have their own families to attend to after a long day’s shift.
I am honoured and privileged to say I have worked alongside these officers and trust them to oversee the safety of our communities.
Thank you for your commitment, even when you may have been treated badly, have been on scene for long hours where the conditions were not always pleasant and working past your shifts when the situation could have been left for the next shift to resolve.
You most certainly set a good example for Norkem Park SAPS. Keep up the outstanding service. I salute you.
