Pensioner charged for 50kl of water

CLAIRE writes:

I received my new water and lights account for December and, to my horror, saw that I have been charged an interim amount for 50kl of water which is four months more than my usual water consumption.

I have tried to contact the municipality to query it, but to get somebody on the phone is mission impossible.

Has anybody told them that the customers are the ones who pay their salaries?

They changed my meter reading counter last month and I suspect this is the reason. I have all the water readings and I was expecting them to adjust it accordingly. Fat chance.

I am a pensioner and I have to find the extra money because of the laziness and incompetence of the accounting department. It will take at least four months of credit to refund the difference – if they do. I have still to find this out. Is this a way to finance Christmas bonuses?
