Pothole damages two tyres, two rims

"My plea is that the council display on billboards a contact number to report potholes."

It is sad to note that our tax monies are not properly managed for the purposes it is intended for.

The parks and roads in Kempton Park are deteriorating rapidly. We, the road users, did take note that some roads in the CBD had been repaired and newly resurfaced. But many of the roads are still in a really bad shape.

Langenhoven Street is one of these roads as on December 3 I became a victim when I drove through a huge pothole on this stretch of road. It was rainy and the pothole was filled with water.

Damaging two tyres and two rims to be repaired, not even to mention the inconvenience and the high risk to change a flat wheel at early evening on this very busy stretch of road.

Looking at the size of the pothole it is clear this hole has been there for a very long time and the council is doing nothing to repair it. I am also aware that the traffic police is constantly in this specific area to monitor the traffic.

Is it not also the duty of the traffic police to report these potholes to the roads department as it creates a huge risk to all the motorists using these roads? How many accidents must happen and not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Rands motorists must pay to repair vehicles? This is all so unnecessary.

It is high time that the roads department and the traffic police join hands to make our roads more reliable and safer for all road users.

My plea is that the council display on billboards a contact number to report potholes. Potholes could be life-threatening and must be repaired expediently.
