Woman wants to trace doctor who saved her finger

Although other doctors wanted to amputate, he insisted he would help her.

DESIREE JOHNSTON writes:

I would love to reconnect with Dr Rousseau, or if he has passed, the family of this wonderful doctor.

He practised in the Kempton Park area in the 1970s.

He saved my finger when I was about four or five years old. It was an accident at crèche.

I crushed my finger in a door and was rushed to his rooms. The other doctors said it was too bad to fix and wanted to amputate my finger at the first joint, but thank goodness for Dr Rousseau.

He said I was a little girl and he would try to save my finger and nail, which he successfully did.

I am ever grateful to him, especially now, as an adult. I can’t imagine the teasing I would have had to endure – a little girl with a missing nail and short finger.

I am sure I was only one of his success stories. Nevertheless, I would like him to know this.

My number is 079 171 9515.
