I have complained about this before. I have lived in Kempton Park for almost 42 years now. We once had a beautiful city but I’m afraid that has long gone.
Our streets are filthy, our garbage collection is almost non-existent and our roads are literally disintegrating on a daily basis.
This fantastic municipality resurfaced Highveld Road last year. This year some brilliant moron dug a trench across Highveld Road at the Monument Road intersection, installed something, put the sand back and that was how it’s been left.
The sand is eroding and now we have a problem as the hole is just getting bigger every day. They also destroyed all the paving on both sides of Monument Road. This has been like this for weeks. It is so bad people cannot even walk on the sidewalk and have to walk on the road.
As for potholes, well that is a complete joke. These brilliant people cut a hole in the road to repair two small potholes near my house, 2.5m long, 1m wide and about 100mm deep. The tar that was removed was dumped on the sidewalk. This was left like this for five weeks.
I do not know how many drivers had their tyres damaged but does this fantastic municipality care, no.
The tar that was dumped on the sidewalk was left for six months and only then did they collect it. Now, a month ago, the same hole started to reappear where they were supposed to have done the repairs. This hole was now 200mm long and about 100mm wide.
And guess how many people were sent to do this minute repair: 10.
It is no wonder they keep upping our licence fees and rates and taxes to pay for this waste of money, not theirs, ours.
The other complaint I am completely cheesed off about is their municipal account delivery system which is non-existent. Accounts are never delivered by post as the postal service is non-existent.
But if your account is not paid by the 20th of the month you can guarantee you will receive a disconnection notice from them. They charge you R125.45 for the notice. How many Kempton Park residents are ripped off by this amount every month?
Oh! I have another question for this brilliant municipality. Since when do the garbage collectors lay down the law as far as garbage collection is concerned? I was wondering why our garbage had not been collected.
I now hear the garbage collectors have unilaterally decided not to collect garbage that is put out in bags, only wheelie bins.
Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on in this country? Everyone who works for this government does just as they like and bugger you.
I bet they are still demanding their wages even though they are not doing their jobs, so what’s new?
