If nothing happens, call again

Thank you, roads department and the call centre staff member who actioned this request.

SANDRA of Van Riebeeck Park writes:

In July 2017, I submitted a request to Ekurhuleni’s call centre for road markings in the vicinity of Mooirivier Drive, Elgin Road and Soutpansberg Drive in Van Riebeeck Park to be re-painted, as they were very faint.

Nothing happened immediately but I wasn’t unduly worried, as I presumed it would take a while for the request to be processed, the materials obtained and a job card/work order to be issued.

Sadly, later in 2017, there was a road traffic fatality on Soutpansberg Drive and the ward councillor, Gideon van Zyl, became involved with the roads department in trying to find both short-term and long-term solutions (Kempton Express December 21).

With more than six months having elapsed since I’d submitted my request, and nothing having happened regarding these road markings, I decided it was time for a follow-up request.

On February 1, I re-sent to the call centre my request of July 25. On February 12, I saw the work had been done. Thank you, roads department and the call centre staff member who actioned this request.

I trust that the further actions which Clr Van Zyl requires will also soon be attended to, hopefully making this stretch of road a little safer for both motorists and pedestrians.

So, residents of Kempton Park and its suburbs, if you submit a request to the call centre and nothing happens, do follow it up.
