Driving around Kempton Park doing my errands at different times of the day, it is great to see so many new faces running around the suburbs, especially the Birch Acres area.
There are a lot of determined women taking on the long uphill of Korhaan Street. You go ladies. Don’t stop until you get up to the top at the crèche. It is going to make your legs strong and get you ready for your first Comrades Marathon.
Having said this, as an experienced runner I wish to give these guys some friendly advice. Please run against the traffic (on the right-hand side of the road), so that you can see what’s in front of you and you are safe from the cars coming up the road.
Also, please do not run with earplugs in your ears. You need to hear what’s going on around you. You just might not hear the happening of a possible car accident and you can become a statistic.
Respect the road and traffic and you will have many happy running days. Good luck with your future running. Thank you.
