A huge, positive shout out of thank you to the EMPD.
Motorists attempting to access Pretoria Road from Beukes Road will agree the traffic lights at said intersection are a daily nightmare during rush hour.
Although one lane is clearly demarcated as a turn right only lane and the other is proceed straight, caution plus road rules are simply ignored as taxis and motorists alike form a three-lane bombardment to beat the red light.
This results in motorists entering from Beukes Road having to wait, at times, three traffic light changes in order that even one vehicle can access Pretoria Road. However, heroes arrived in the form of an EMPD twin-cab vehicle the other day. This vehicle was smartly parked in front of the turn right exit, thereby forcing users of that lane to turn right.
One smartly placed EMPD vehicle resulted in free-flowing traffic, drivers either turning right or proceeding down Pretoria Road (as per road markings), while drivers entering from Beukes Road had smooth access to Pretoria Road.
In an absolute first, some vehicles on Pretoria Road even stopped when the traffic light turned amber. What a privilege if this could become the norm.
