‘Hooligans’ plague Birchleigh North with fireworks

Even debris fell on our roof as rockets were shot, not only into the air but also right into the walls of properties

Tinus Coetzer writes:

Tonight (December 31) I feel the need to communicate great frustration with the city of Ekurhuleni and Kempton Park, especially also the police of Norkem Park.

Fireworks had been widely advertised as being banned and not allowed in residential areas. Yet, at midnight, residents from a complex called Heloise Court on Heloise Street in Birchleigh North shot off incredible fireworks in the street, sending sparks into adjacent properties and making noises that could actually be felt.

Even debris fell on our roof as rockets were shot, not only into the air but also right into the walls of properties, causing explosions of sound and fire.

Had it not been for the rain, the possibility of fire breaking out as burning sparks landed in gutters would have been a very real possibility. These lawless thugs, living among us in residential areas, truly have no right to be here.

Disorderly, with absolutely no sense of civil obedience, these people should have no right to be part of any civil community and should be held accountable at the highest level.

My question is: where are the police? Why are tax paying citizens subjected to this kind of behaviour without any protection from law enforcement officers?

How can we have these people prosecuted for their actions? This is an utter disgrace that a miniscule percentage of the population are allowed to run riot and cause the remaining law abiding citizens such unacceptable frustration and trample so disrespectfully on the rights we are supposed to enjoy.

Will I be able to get an answer to this question? I doubt it.
