Why can’t all departments in Ekurhuleni deliver service like the parks department under the excellent team and steer-woman-ship of Helen Chudleigh.
I clicked on the ‘request it’ button on the site, got the contact number and address of the parks division on Plane Road, went there, filed a request to have a cypress tree cut on the sidewalk which had started falling over.
I asked to see the Kempton Park area manager, Helen, as the contact number on the site was not working. She gave me a new number and said they were busy cutting another cypress tree on my street.
She called them and gave them instruction to attend to my tree. Lo and behold, when I got home they were busy cutting the tree. Three hours later the tree was down and the remains packed on my sidewalk.
Was I really impressed when, the next day, (Saturday) the parks truck was there to remove the tree remains as well as clean the street from debris.
Makes me wonder why are the other departments’ service delivery so pathetic, refuse (non)-removal, pothole (non)-refilling.
I have also never had to complain about sewer and water services. We have the cleanest drinking water in the country.
Think we should get more Helens in our management and leader structures in Ekurhuleni.
