Power outage: Mayor Masina owes us an apology

We hate to drag you away from the riveting and important task of overseeing drone-making.

KAREN GLAUTIER writes via Facebook:

Mr Mayor, where have you been? Oh, that’s right, the crisis in Kempton Park has escaped your attention.

Although Kempton Park is one of the larger metropolitan service areas, you are completely unaware of the substation explosion which has resulted in about half of this area being without power for five entire days now.

The silence coming from your office is only overpowered by the complete inadequacy of the department responsible for maintenance of these facilities.

We hate to drag you away from the riveting and important task of overseeing drone-making, but when you have a moment between pressing engagements, do you think you could attempt to manage the department responsible for the misinformation and drivel regarding this emergency?

Every day there were new promises and every evening none were realised. We want a realistic timeline from the mayor’s office.

We want an explanation regarding why it is not possible for the contractors to achieve their deadlines. Their deadlines.

You are a servant of the people of this constituency, we pay your salary. You owe us an apology and an explanation.

The constituents are annoyed, and rightly so.
