‘Where is the law, Mr Mayor’

Fancy words (and more lies and promises) from the municipal spokespeople will make no difference

ANONYMOUS from Terenure writes:

Dear Mr Mayor,

“O Kae Molao?” means where is the law?

In Kempton Park this question is not even worth the ink with which it is printed. There is no law, none whatsoever.

No law for the supply of water, a basic human right for which we very dearly pay.

No law for proper supply of electricity, an extremely expensive commodity for which we very dearly pay.

No proper removal of refuse, again a service for which we are charged monthly and for which we very dearly pay. Numerous promises broken, numerous lies told to the paying public.

No upkeep of roads and relevant road infrastructure. The shocking single lane R25 (known to some as the P91) through Birchleigh has been a major bottleneck and traffic disaster for decades.

The Elgin Road bridge, a total nightmare, is ignored by Dear Mr Mayor and his team.

There is a massive traffic bottleneck from Edleen to Modderfontein every morning and afternoon.

There is a total lack of road repair, this despite the fact that it has been reported via phone, call centre and app.

No effective call centre – it has never been effective, not once.

No EMPD: no visible policing, no formal, active and fully sustainable actions against law-breaking road criminals (yes, minibus taxis).

No guidance and or help in permanently resolving traffic bottleneck issues.

No Kempton Park Hospital: broken promise after broken promise, lie after lie after lie.

No update on the new metro police building at Edleen Circle.

Why? Where did our tax money go? Why is there no feedback?

No cleaning up of any public spaces, all parks and the inner city are disgustingly dirty.

No upkeep and monitoring of Swartspruit, I mean sewage line.

No upkeep of any and all infrastructure pertaining to water lines, electricity lines, sewage lines. The residents of Kempton Park are bombarded daily with no maintenance.

Anything from electricity transformers to valves on pipes are blamed for issues, but accepting responsibility? What?

No mayoral or exco feedback when disaster is looming, no mayoral feedback ever, no mayoral public display of empathy, guidance and assistance.

No acceptance of the fact that Kempton Park (and 99 per cent of Ekurhuleni) is in serious trouble.

No upkeep of the “Welcome in Kempton Park” signs for many years.

Not that it matters, no one feels welcome at all.

“Batho Pele” – people first – haha!

Mr Mayor, the above is a clear testimony that the residents can request:

1. A massive motion of no confidence in you personally. Everyone in the current Ekurhuleni Municipality who are guilty of the total lack of paid-for municipal service are included in the no-confidence motion.

2. A formal tax revolt, not a single tax- and service-paying resident in Kempton Park gets what is lawfully owed to them. Why pay for nothing?

Note: Fancy words (and more lies and promises) from the municipal spokespeople will make no difference. To date, it never has and never will.

And we’ve not once been proven wrong.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
