READER: Hats off to Glen Marikana Crèche

Let us hope that the metro will come up with a solution by end of January 2020 and provide proper accommodation for our people.

GENE SUPRA of Aston Manor writes:

On October 3, I walked into the Glen Marikana informal settlement.

Great was my surprise when I saw the crèche. It consists of two small rooms housing about 50 children.

I take my hat off to the principal who made the two rooms as child-friendly as possible under difficult circumstances.

Her vision is to provide a safe environment for the children during the day when the parents are away. She provides two meals a day with a snack in the afternoon.

I sincerely hope the metro no longer forsakes these children and come up with a solution by end of January 2020, instead of, thus far saddling one man, the owner, with these unsatisfactory conditions.

Shame on the metro for taking years to provide proper accommodation for our people; hooray for one woman in the informal settlement who’s trying to do her bit for the children.
