If you, as I was, were brought up to say please and thank you, then this is where I get to say a public thank you to the Ekurhuleni call centre staff who handle the numerous complaints and requests I have submitted relating to Kempton Park and its suburbs.
I emailed the call centre regarding, for example, street lights not working, kerbside crash barriers needing replacement, traffic lights either not working or demolished, blocked stormwater drains needing cleaning, road traffic signs needing re-painting or replacement, broken paving on council pavements requiring attention, and various other problems.
As is suggested, I give my mobile phone number (as well as my name) in the email, which means I then automatically receive not only acknowledgement of the submission but a reference number, should follow-ups be required.
Yes, there are times when a “chase-up” is required, but for the most part, I find my submissions dealt with as soon as feasibly possible.
I always send a thank you email to the call centre when a problem has been dealt with and ask that my thanks be forwarded to the relevant department. Whether or not the latter happens, I don’t know, hence this letter so everyone in whichever department who has been involved in rectifying whatever the problem is, knows that at least one resident appreciates the help and assistance.
