Councillor applauds the EMPD

Members of the unit need to be trained in issues like human trafficking

Clr Jaco Terblanche, DA Shadow MMC for Community Safety in Ekurhuleni, writes:

The Democratic Alliance in Ekurhuleni congratulates Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department’s (EMPD) drug unit on its successes against drug dealers across Ekurhuleni.

It is encouraging to see that the EMPD is taking the war against the trading of illegal substances seriously by going after the dealers.

It is important that these cases reach the courts and send a clear message that the trading of illegal substances in Ekurhuleni will be dealt with effectively and efficiently.

By ensuring improved training and allocating more resources, the drug unit can contribute to a better, safer Ekurhuleni for our children.

The time has come for Clr Frans Mmoko, MMC for Community Safety, to make the resources available and provide adequate training to our officers.

Members of the unit need to be trained in issues like human trafficking, which is the second largest crime activity in the world after the illegal drug trade.
