Cost of prepaid electricity questioned

"I was thrilled when the first time I bought for R250 it lasted a full month, but now it seems I'll have to feed the prepaid meter every two weeks."

E Shead writes:

I want to know why the council feels it necessary to rip off the public when we buy prepaid electricity.

On May 27, I bought R250 worth and got 115.30 units.

On June 26, I spent another R250 and got 108.90 units.

On July 17, for R250, I only got 96.80 units, which makes me wonder how many units I’ll get for the next R250 I spend?

I’m looking after my niece’s house while they are stuck overseas because of the lockdown, and the pool is the only thing using electricity.

Goodness knows what the cost of prepaid will be when my family is finally able to live there.

I hope City of Ekurhuleni management responds to my query ASAP.
