Readers get answers about strange type of fungi

"I will await late 2020 and early 2021 with interest, to see if they reappear."

Sandra Engel, Van Riebeeck Park writes:

I am the Van Riebeeck Park resident whose story of a strange type of fungi in my garden was published in the Express online in March.

I wish to thank not only the Express for publishing my query, but also the several readers who responded, advising me about these “puffballs”, of which I had never heard.

I later learned that puffballs had subsequently appeared in a few other gardens in this suburb.

More puffballs sprung up in my flowerbeds and lawn even after publication of the article, but by mid-May, they all seem to have died off.

I will await late 2020 and early 2021 with interest, to see if they reappear.
