Resident desperate for answers from metro

"Please can we get someone to listen to our cries of help for our water problems."

This letter, sent to the Express, was addressed to the City of Ekurhuleni’s mayor, the MMC of Water and Sanitation and media spokesperson:

Once again I write this email to update you on the water crises in Bonaero Park.

We have another burst pipe in Malpensa Avenue which has once again left all residents in the area with either no water or very low water pressure.

Besides the fact that we have no water, millions of litres of water is gushing out of the pipes, and we have been asked by the Water and Sanitation Department to use water sparingly as our dams are at very low levels.

We are not able to assist and the burst pipes in our area are eating away at our water levels.

Please can we get someone to listen to our cries of help for our water problems.

There were 14 burst water pipes in 24 days:

  • July 12 – Fiskaal Street
  • July 14 – corner of Mirabel Street and Dalcross Avenue
  • July 14 – conrer of Dalcross and Malpensa avenues
  • July 18 – 143 Monument Road
  • July 18 – 24 DF Malan Street
  • July 19 – Driedoring Street
  • July 20 – 40 Kurper Road
