Editor – In the early hours of October 17 at around 1.20am our beloved father, Jeffrey Makhafola, known to those who loved him as Oom Jeff, died in his sleep.
ADT security was the first to arrive. Paramedics were dispatched. Our father died of natural causes.
As a family, we have faced this major loss with such disbelief and honestly broken-hearted, as the head of the family is no more.

We were, however, carried by the community and would therefore like to send our gratitude to the following:
• The paramedics who were dispatched to our residence
• The Norkem Park community where we reside
• Our neighbours for their understanding and support
• The EMPD who escorted the family procession to the church and graveyard
• The Christ The King Anglican Church congregation in Thembisa
• K2M Funeral services who ensured the send-off was respectful and accessible on social media as Covid-19 had stringent regulations and limited people presence
• The Thembisa High School teachers where our mother worked
• The Department of Health head office where our father worked for many years until he went on pension in July 2020
• Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport
• Taxi industry
• Our family and friends
It is through the support we received that we gathered strength as we were faced with this tragedy. It is our hope and daily prayer that God continues to carry us and strengthen us.
We appreciate all your words of comfort, the love that was shown to us as a family is beyond measure and continues to carry us through this difficult time as a family.
