Mohale wins night race
Both individuals and company teams participated in the 15km race and 5km fun run
THERE were quite a few people who suffered from sore feet and body aches after competing in Arwyp’s annual Nite Run on January 28.
Over one thousand professional athletes as well as ordinary people came through to participate in the race, which was held at Barnard Stadium and included a 15km run and a 5km fun run.
The winner of the 15km men’s race was Lucky Mohale (Temp), who came in first in 49 minutes and 2 seconds. Desmond Mokgobu (Boxer) was second in 49 minutes and 11 seconds and Simon Mpholo (Nedbank) third. He completed the race in 49 minutes and 30 seconds.
The winner of the women’s 15km race were Katy van Meter (Soul Striders), who finished the race in 63 minutes and 21 seconds. Cobie Smith (Temp) came second and finished the race in 65 minutes and 38 seconds. Janelle Verster (Unisa) was third. She finished the race in 69 minutes and 29 seconds.
Sponsored by Arwyp Medical Centre and hosted by Kempton Road Runners, the event was initiated by Arwyp in 2011 as a way of raising awareness among its staff members and the Kempton community about the importance of healthy living and maintaining an active lifestyle.
The race attracts runners from all over Kempton and other parts of Gauteng.
