“We were very privileged as Kempton Park Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies to participate at the prestigious Mooiriver Kickboxing Challenge hosted in Potchefstroom. Sensei Wessel Slabbert did an exceptional job over a period of time preparing six well-trained fighters to enter this event,” Theron said.

The club’s fighters produced impressive results across the two divisions.

Tanner Curtis earned silver in both light contact and kick light, while Angelo Phiri claimed gold in both divisions. Xolani Mtambo also secured gold in both light contact and kick light.

Fikile Hlabangana won silver in light contact and gold in kick light, while Charl Lots earned silver in both divisions. Ronald Komarasamy completed the team’s medal haul with gold in both light contact and kick light.

Phiri was also awarded a fully sponsored Century equipment set valued at approximately R5 000 for his performance at the tournament.

Theron explained that light-contact kickboxing involves controlled but firm techniques, with knockouts possible when techniques are applied correctly without resulting in disqualification.

The club is now preparing for its next two tournaments before turning its attention to the Ekurhuleni trials as part of the qualification process for next year’s Gauteng trials.
