Dolphin FC netted on penalties as they beat a disappointing Vonyoko FC 4-2 in a top 8 team tournament encounter at the Sekhukhune Sports Grounds on Sunday.

Vonyoko FC wasted a great opportunity to win the final of the Winnie Mandela top 8 team when the team’s reliable striker, Malope Manyama, missed a penalty given to them in the dying minutes of the game.

The penalty came after a Dolphin FC player touched the ball with his hand. Vonyoko FC failed to make the most of the opportunity to win the game.

At the end of the game, the score was still 0-0.

Vonyoko FC’s supporters became angry and ill-disciplined when Manyama failed to score. Instead of taking the blame to their team, they started insulting the referee for favouring the opponents.

The game had to be decided on penalties, which Dolphin FC won 4-2.

Dolphin FC’s coach, Fanuel Booka, said he was happy his team won the game.

“It was a hard match and both the teams looked determined to win. I am impressed with the performance of my players, which was outstanding. Our aim this year is to keep the title until the end of the year,” he said.
