‘We want to win’ – Baxter
Although they have secured their league victory against Polokwane City, the mighty Amakhosi are not taking the foot off the peddle until the last game of the season
League champions, Kaizer Chiefs, will face ‘Bafana ba Style’ Mamelodi Sundowns, who are looking to secure the all important second spot to qualify to play in the African Champions League.
According to the Kaizer Chiefs website, and speaking ahead of the encounter with Sundowns, Coach Stuart Baxter said, “We want to win, while we know that for them it’s a must win.
“They will come at us with the aim to win, which they need to do in order to maintain their second spot on the league table.”
“We don’t want to lose concentration, thinking that our job is done, because we have already won the league,” continued Baxter.

“It is all about what we want to get out of this game. That should inspire us.”
Chiefs mathematically secured the league title with a 4-1 win over Polokwane City last week. Amakhosi romped home, settling the Absa Premiership title with three games to go and having booked 63 points.
Matthew Rusike, who scored two goals against Polokwane City, believes the team still has a job to do.
Rusike said, “It has been a long season. Those goals were the fruits of continuing to work hard at training.
“For sure, they have been a long time in coming, but I knew they had to come at some stage. And, of course, it’s accordingly amazing to score two championship winning goals.”
On the clash against the Brazilians, Rusike says, “Last season, we lost the league title to Sundowns. That was a massive, bitter pill to swallow, especially as we lost so many points during our last seven league encounters.”

“On the other hand, we are not talking about revenge. We just go for the three points, as that’s how we approach every game.”
Amakhosi and the Brazilians played earlier this season to a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium with George Lebese scoring the equaliser.
Chiefs play against Sundowns at Atteridgeville’s Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday evening, kick-off is at 7:30pm.
When it comes to form, Amakhosi have been doing well in recent games with no losses so far in the fourth quarter of the Q-Innovation after four games.
When it comes to Chiefs-Sundowns clashes, Amakhosi have booked 24 wins compared to 18 for the Brazilians, while 17 matches have been drawn after 59 league matches played since 1985.
When it comes to players injured, the good news is that Morgan Gould has started cycling after undergoing an operation recently on his Achilles tendon.
