Kemptonians run in Comrades

THREE Kemptonian runners took part in this year’s Comrades Marathon.

Denene De Waal, who is in her early 40s and now lives in Australia, finished her race in 10 hours and 59 minutes.

Sean Wells, a pastor at the Gateway Uniting Presbyterian Church in Glen Marais, has been running for many years and this was the 56-year-old’s 11th time participating in the ultra marathon.

Unfortunately, he was unable to finish the race.

His wife Carina (55) completed her race in just under 12 hours, with a time of 11 hours and 57 minutes. It was Carina’s third time participating in the annual event.

The 90th annual Comrades Marathon took place on May 31.
