Local boy attends prestigious world football tournament

The tournament is considered the best and most elite football event for U/9 and U/10 teams in Europe

SHANGRI-LA Academy pupil, Luke Cannon (9), participated in the prestigious Robin van Persie International Football Tournament from May 29 to 31 at the VDL Maassluis Sports Complex in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The grade three learner attended the event as part of the South African All Stars U/9 squad, for which he was selected through intense trials and out of all the players from the best clubs in Gauteng.

The tournament is considered the best and most elite football event for U/9 and U/10 teams in Europe. Big clubs from countries such England, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Portugal participate in the tournament.

Cannon is pictured wearing his All Stars jacket, signed by Robin van Persie himself, a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester United and the Dutch national team.
