Atlasville Tennis Club invites beginner and advanced tennis players

The club will host an open day to all players on Saturday, August 1.

THE Atlasville Tennis Club is introducing play and stay lessons for beginners and a Junior Club for the more improved players every Saturday morning.

The club will host an open day to all players on Saturday, August 1, at a fee of R30.

One of the tennis coaches, Marlene Brighton, said play and stay was an introduction to tennis for children from the age of five to 12 years old, and beginners.

“It is played on smaller courts with slower balls and is a fun and easy way to start and progress in your tennis. By using smaller courts and slower balls, players are able to serve, rally and score from the first lesson,” she explained.

“It is also a good stepping stone to the next level, which is private lessons and moving into Junior Club,” she added.

Brighton pointed out that the private lessons were available for ages seven years old to adults on weekdays.

The advantages for adults that could motivate and encourage them to join the sport she said were, health and exercise benefits, having a good work out, social experience and meeting new people, learning and improving at something new, and being able to participate at a time that suits their lifestyle.
