Tandy triumphs at triple A race

The Crocodile River is famous for not having any flat water stretches between rapids.

RICHARD Tandy from Kempton Park and a member of the Ekurhuleni Kayak Club at Homestead Dam, took on the

technically challenging two-day N4 Trac Lowveld Crocodile K1 River Race and finished successfully in a time of 5 hours and 31 minutes. Tandy covered a distance of 30km on both days.

Getting ready for the grueling Fish River Marathon

The N4 Trac Lowveld Crocodile K1 River Race, is the only Triple A rated race that falls under the Gauteng calendar of races.

With a water release from the Kwena Dam, the river flows with a fast downhill gradient towards Nelspruit. The river meanders through the valleys of Schoemanskloof with several rocky rapids, steep drops and sharp tight corners with huge but scattered boulders that provide a spectacular and scenic challenge for experienced white water river racers.
