1-0 victory for Limpopo City
Both teams' players ensured their defence was solid and neither side was able to score in the first half.
Limpopo City defeated Friendship Town FC in the finals of the top 8 tournament on Sunday.
The match took place in Phomolong.
Both teams’ players ensured their defence was solid and neither side was able to score in the first half.
The second half proved to be just as tough, with both teams battling to secure a goal.
Limpopo City’s players did, however, eventually manage to breach Friendship Town FC’s defences, and secured the lead for their team.
“From the beginning we were good in our attack, but our opponents’ defence was solid.
“We had to substitute in the second half, taking Starring out and sending Marcus in, because we needed more stability going forward,” said Limpopo City’s coach, Peter Motale.
“It was a fantastic game even though the opponents’ injuries affected the momentum of the game.
“Their left back was not solid enough and we took advantage, finally breaking through,” said coach Motale.
Friendship Town’s goalkeeper, Makungu Nkosi said, “Our players were too relaxed. The first half was better. We conceded the goal because the left and right back were relaxed. We need to strengthen the defence for future tournaments.”
Friendship Town FC’s coach, Collen Mahashe, said the team didn’t rest enough following the previous matches in the tournament.
“We lost because of fatigue, lack of concentration and the lack of communication,” he said.
