Young Kemptonian leads SA shooting team
The world championships will take place in Wales from September 19 to 23.
JACQUES Fouche of Kempton Park will lead the South African airgun field target shooting team when they compete in the world field target championships later this year.
The world championships will take place in Wales from September 19 to 23. This year 33 countries will take part.
The South African Field Target Airgun Nationals was held on March 18, 19 and 20 in Krugersdorp. Fifty contenders from all over South Africa who have qualified for the 2017 nationals participated.
Strong winds blew all three days, with gusting winds reaching a speed of 37km/h at times.
On the final day of the competition, three shooters were tied in first position. After a lengthy shootout, Fouché was crowned as the South African Field Target Airgun Champion for 2017.
In 2015 he was part of the Protea team in New Zealand, bringing home the World Cup for South Africa. In 2013 he came second in the junior category in Germany and in 2012 he was third in Norway.
