Bidvest Wits’ Gavin Hunt visits Bonaero 74 for coaching clinic
Hunt's greatest success came at SuperSport United, where he won three consecutive PSL championships from 2007-08 to 2009-10.
BONAERO 74 Amateur Football Club had the experience of working with coach Gavin Hunt during a coaching clinic at their grounds in Bonaero Park on July 1.
Bonaero 74’s aim is to invest in their players and coaches and having the current Bidvest Wits coach on their turf was a great opportunity that the team needed.

Hunt is a South African former soccer player himself and won three consecutive premier soccer league championships in his coaching career at SuperSport United from 2007-08 to 2009-10. More recently, he celebrated winning the 2016 premier soccer league with Bidvest Wits.
Bonaero 74’s coaching team consists of 32 Coaches throughout each age group, from u-6 to Colts, Seniors, Ladies and Vets teams and each coach is passionate about the development of soccer players at the club. Through the coaching clinics, the aim is to enhance and better the ways of coaching for Bonaero 74 coaches.
Karl Hegelmann, Bonaero 74’s Director of Coaching, explained that it is imperative for them as an amateur soccer club to encourage such sporting events to take place in order to invest in the future of players as well as to encourage players at a grassroots level to develop a love for the game.

“It is also an invaluable opportunity to make a positive investment in the community by including life skills as part of the training programme. The greatest reward for any coach is to see a player coached, go on to play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and further more on an international stage.
“It is rewarding for us as a growing soccer club, to execute some of the training styles that were given to us by Gavin Hunt, especially with the younger players, and to grow our coaching team to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge of coaching to take the players to the next level,” he said.
Bonaero 74 currently has two qualified SAFA D licence coaches in their team – with a drive to have all coaches qualified with SAFA by the end of 2018.
The club as a whole aim to continue to provide a fun and exhilarating soccer experience encouraging sportsmanship and ensuring the love of the game whilst fostering respect and honour and thereby ensuring a positive impact on the community.
