Mother City FC conquers top 4 tournament

He said during the half-time break he told his boys to focus and heed his instructions

Four teams locked horns over the weekend to prove who had the best team to take home first prize.

Mother City coach Appiah Boshomane said the tournament was a tough one but they managed to emerge victorious.

He said their first game was nice and they managed to win 3 – 1 against their opponents.

“In the first half of our first game my players couldn’t communicate well and were struggling to take instructions.

As a result we conceded a goal in the first half. I was therefore forced to put Udi in Rick Ross’ place.

Still we were unable to score an equalising goal for our team,” said Appiah.

He said during the half-time break he told his boys to focus and heed his instructions.

“In the second half of the game Nyiko scored ten minutes into the game which was our equalising goal. Five minutes after our first goal, Nyiko scored again. I did a second substitution in the second half to counter the lack of communication between players. I took out Nyiko and put in Ndlela who scored the final goal just before the referee blew the final whistle. We won 3 -1,” said Appiah.

He said the second game was a final game and was a good one. Appiah encouraged his players to focus and Mother City won the final game 3 – 0.

“I told my boys we needed a goal fifteen minutes after the kick off. We did get the goal but it came later on – not within fifteen minutes. The goal was scored by Nyiko and our second goal was scored by Shakes. I made no substitutions in the first half of our final game.

In the second half our players lost focus following an injury sustained by Sello. I had to bring in Udi to assist. I told Udi to attack and made him aware that we were not under pressure. Udi scored our third goal,” said Appiah.

The final score in the game between Mother City and Phomolong FC was 3 – 0 in favor of Mother City FC.
